The autumn to winter transition can be dull and cold, but it's so easy to perk up your day with a few accessories which are some of my ultimate autumn favourites this year. I often find that the smallest tweaks to an outfit can make all the difference and make your frosty day much more cosy.
This autumn, there is a lot of attention on scarves and, specifically, the tartan print scarf. The great thing about these is that they are available everywhere, so whether or not your bank account is recieving a nice treat from Student Finance, you will be more than able to find one of these at a student-friendly price. Also, don't forget matching lipstick - an appropriate lip colour will change your whole look by enhancing the features of your outfit, making you ready to endure the cold season.
The grey, black and red combination is a classic, timeless tartan print which you can never go wrong with. If in doubt, go for these neutral autumnal/winter colours which are guranteed to match every colour and every outfit. This one from New Look only £9.99 is soft, cosy and great quality, giving great value for money and durability.
For the liptsick, scarf will go best with a matte burgundy as it will bring more attention to the red colour on the scarf without going overboard, and the matte effect of the liptick will give your whole look a wintery edge. My lipstick recommendation is a beautiful shade from Maybelline, Divine Wine 975, at only £6.99 - it's the perfct burgundy shade for this season with an incredibly long-lasting effect.
Other than burgundy, brown is my top autumnal/winter colour to go for; it's easier to match with than you may think and it's a warming and popular colour this season. Also from New Look for £9.99, it's a great option to go for if the above is a little too classic for you and you want something different.
Nude/beige lipstick colours are best as they it will match the calm tones of the brown scarf and, for this, I would recommend another Maybelline product: Velvet Beige 630, also £6.99 - it's a neutral colour bound to match any skin tone or complexion, it has a creamy and moisturising texture and provides long-lasting colour. However, if you're more impartial to lipstick and are looking to spend a little less on this accessory, a great alternative is Apricot 84 from New Look's Pure Colour range at only £3.99. These are also available in a wide range of other colours, so if you're on a budget, you will definitely find a shade there to go with your tartan scarf this winter.
If the tartan print isn't for you, however, there are always other really great options such as loop scarves in solid grey, beige or cream colours which are available in H&m right now for only £7.99, or a snug snood in similar autumnal shades which, for the best bargains, are available in New Look and H&M for under £10.
