ELISABETH MAHASE

When I first played Gabrielle Aplin's new single I was surprised with the up-tempo melody, it's a real change of tempo compared with her last album. Sweet Nothing has a slightly more pop feel, it shows a new side to Aplin and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I loved her last album, but there was a sense of repetitiveness that this song really helps to break.

Overall I like this track, Aplin's voice comes through as beautiful as ever, however it doesn't give me goosebumps like her voice has done many times before. I'm hoping her next album also features some more vocally focused songs in the same style as her previous singles: Home and Please Don't Say You Love Me, alongside more upbeat songs such as this.
